Leading Room
This is leading room so there is enough space in front of Les to show that he is going to the water fountain.

Thanks to Joshua Veldstra, I learned to adjust my aperture to focus on the subject of the photo and blur the rest of the photo so the audience’s attention was drawn to the subject.
Before After
For my first visual mystery I chose to sit my model (Les) on the edge of the docks and had thrown his phone into the water. After a short tantrum he became very sad and depressed such as in the picture. Okay, I didn’t really throw his phone into the water, but you get the idea. It’s a bit of a sad mystery.
To edit this photo of Les, I increased the contrast levels so his clothes would be somewhat of a silhouette compared to the background. However, after this change, it was not exactly how I wanted the message to be sent. To emphasize the emotion I wanted the audience to feel, I changed the brightness to a ‘Low Focus’ in black and white to rid the happiness in the photo.
I created this Textured Focus by having my model (Les) put his hand under a running water fountain while I moved about him trying to find the perfect angle where I can see his hand creases as well as the water running off. I added an effect that dramatized the water droplets and accentuated the creases in his hand.
By enchancing the colors (mostly blue), I was able to distinguish the players as well as the field, giving the picture more impact to its audience.
